Having realized that we missed a few
things on our first trip to this beautiful city, we decided to make a
second trip. Since we are only a little over an hour away, this was
no big deal.
The first two things on our list of
missed places were a quilt shop and a chocolate factory. Now you
need to understand that Jo's first two loves are neither her husband, nor
her son, but quilting and chocolate. I'm not sure which of those
actually comes first, but I suspect that it might be
quilting.......as long as she has a good supply of chocolate around.
As for
Whitstone Chocolate Factory, she has not mentioned what she thought
of it...........but she hasn't offered me any of the chocolates yet
either.
From there we took a closer look at
the Presbyterian church, the Cathedral Basilica and a few more
notable spots around the city.
Then we crossed the Lion's Head
Bridge and drove out to the St Augustine beach where we had our
picnic lunch (sitting in the Jeep shivering) after a chilly walk on the
beach.
(OK, I realize that
if you are in Alabama, Oklahoma or especially if you are in Illinois, you are not feeling one bit sorry for us for having to wear our coats on a Florida beach, but after all, THIS IS FLORIDA !)
From there we drove the A1A through Ormond
Beach, on down to Daytona Beach, drove by the Daytona Speedway,
then across SR 40 and back home. All in all, even with the chilly, damp, foggy weather, it was a good
day from start to finish.
Now we are happily writing, sorting photos, and
enjoying our great internet connections here in the RV park, as we
relax in our "cozy home".
