Thanksgiving Along the "1"

November 27, 2014

Jo made apricot-almond muffins early Thanksgiving morning. While enjoying them warm from the oven, we decided to break with tradition and postpone our main Thanksgiving meal until evening, so we could take a nice leisurely drive along the Hwy 1 Sonoma Coast road.

We have several days of rain on the way for the coming week so with the beautiful day today, we just had to get out and explore. We are only about 30 miles from the coast in the resort where we are parked, so that really makes it handy.  We drove west through the rolling hills dotted with cattle and sheep ranches along the coast to Bodega Bay.

From there we drove north along the "1" as far as the Sonoma Coast State Park.

Then we turned around and returned the same way.

Even the dog got wet from this one

How nice it is to have the coast so close, and to be able to repeat this nice drive. We might even drive over during the rainy week ahead to get a different perspective.

Now we are back at home as the sun sets on the RV resort and the Turkey is in the oven. We have been truly blessed today to have such a nice day together.

We hope you have all had a great Thanksgiving Day, surrounded with friends and family, with good food, and good reflections on your blessings.
