Mary of the Woods College - Terre Haute, Indianna

Mary of the Woods

A visit with friends to the Saint Mary of the Woods college near Terre Haute, Indianna revealed a beautiful campus with a grand entrance drive lined with fine old trees, gracious lawns, and some of the most impressive architecture we have seen.

The sprawling campus has numerous serene, quiet alcoves where students can study without distraction.

The Church of the Immaculate Conception is decorated in the style of many European churches and exhibits many fine examples of master craftmanship both in stone and wood.

Once an all woman's college, the classes are now open to co-ed students.

Women can live on campus, however men are all considered day students, and must live off campus. Girls are girls, boys are boys, and nuns continue to be nuns.

This college is a nice place for an afternoon visit. It appears to be a good place to pursue higher education as well. There is even have a small herd of alpacas on campus.

There is a dining hall where, according to our friends, a great Sunday brunch is served, and is open to the public. We did not try it, but it seems to be a very popular place to dine.
